Your self-serving putdown of the Iran-contra report is hopefully your “final act” in the Reagan-Meese-Bush-media campaign to belittle and obstruct the Walsh investigation.
If Congress hadn’t botched its hearings by its “see no evil” whitewash and by giving immunity that made effective prosecution difficult-and if Reagan and Bush hadn’t stonewalled, misinformed (lied to) Congress and the public, refused to cooperate and pardoned many of the leading conspirators, several interesting things might have happened:
The American public would have a much clearer picture of the damage to the Constitution and the abuse of power; impeachment proceedings could probably have been considered; the playboy subversive now running for the Senate and several others of his ilk would be in jail rather than becoming wealthy on the lecture circuit.
