Daniel J. O’Brien, 71, a retired systems analyst for Peoples Gas, died Sunday in Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He was born in Chicago and lived in Libertyville for the last 45 years. He served in the Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette; a son, Daniel III; two daughters, Patricia Wendt and Kathleen McLaughlin; and seven grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in McMurrough Chapel, 101 Park Pl., Libertyville. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple Ave., Libertyville.
