I read the article about the new location of the Friends of Refugees of Eastern Europe synagogue in West Rogers Park (Jan. 31). Being a West Rogers Park resident, I feel very happy for the Jewish community, and I agree that something should be done to avoid more incidents like the arson of the synagogue and other synagogues in the area.

But I cannot agree with Svetlana Goykham, who is quoted in the article asking: “Why would they burn our synagogue? They can burn churches, someplace else, why us?” Why burn anything?
