In Clarence Page’s column “Both sides must work to resolve black-Jewish rift,” he says black racial unity is very important to blacks and that others should be understanding of this. At the same time, though, he strongly condemns the idea that all blacks are responsible for the racist remarks of Khalid Muhammed.

What Page wants is for blacks to think of themselves as a group but for others to see them as individuals. He wants blacks to have the advantages of being a group without the disadvantages.

I think Page needs to understand that he can’t have it both ways.
