In Voice of the People (Feb. 3), John Heinz asks the ridiculous question: “What if, in 1861, Abraham Lincoln commandeered all civilian firearms?”
I have a question for Heinz. What if, in 1776, American patriots complied with the British order to turn in all civilian firearms? The answer is that Heinz would be flying a British flag outside his house and there would have never been a President Lincoln (or any other president, for that matter).
