The board of Consolidated School District 230 has postponed making changes in the driver’s education program after opposition from parents and students.
Jim Sibley, community relations coordinator for the district, said Monday the board will not make a decision until some time next year. He said the board will evaluate student and parent input.
The board’s Education Committee is considering eliminating the on-road class during school hours in favor of classes held before and after school and on Saturday mornings.
Nearly 100 people attended January’s meeting to oppose the changes. Sibley said there wouldn’t be enough time to budget the program for next year if the board tried to reorganize things now.
