Dr. Bernhard Chomet, 88, a former medical pathologist who turned to poetry in the final years of his life, died Thursday at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. Born in Vienna, Dr. Chomet was a pathologist for 40 years at West Side Veterans Administration Hospital in Chicago. He moved to Ann Arbor eight years ago and began writing poetry. A volume of Dr. Chomet’s poetry, “Forces of Life,” was published in 1987. Dr. Chomet is survived by a son, Charles; a daughter, Renee; a brother; and eight grandchildren. Services will be at noon Monday at Piser Weinstein Menorah Chapels, 3019 W. Peterson Ave., Chicago.
