“I like being successful,” said Marge Weber of Mokena, president of Questions & Marketing Research Services. “I take pride in what I do and feel good when I accomplish something.”
One of Weber’s major accomplishments was to construct a 6,300-square-foot facility last year in the La Grange Business Park in Mokena for her growing company.
Networking with the Business Develoment Center, Weber learned of special financing opportunities for women business owners that made Q & M’s expansion possible. She also linked up with her contractor and architect through word-of-mouth referrals.
“I could have used a lot more help,” Weber said. “Not many women know where to turn.”
Weber’s business collects data, such as political leanings and consumer product preferences. The new facility also features regulated kitchens where new products are taste-tested. Some of her major clients are Campbell’s Soup, Kraft, General Foods and Quaker Oats.
Weber’s interest in marketing was stirred after enrolling in some marketing classes at Joliet Junior College.
The 7-year-old firm has annual sales of more than “several hundred thousand dollars,” Weber said. Weber also employs 36 part-time and three full-time employees.
“Women are just beginning to realize the potential in talking to other people and trading resources,” Weber said.
“There are a lot of other women out there in powerful positions in business. We have to encourage one another to reach our full potentials and discover how much we really can do.”
