Dr. John E. Meyer, 70, died Saturday at his Chicago home. Dr. Meyer, a physician since 1951, was a faculty member at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine and at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Hospital. He was an attending physician at Palos Community, Holy Cross and EHS Christ Hospitals. He also was the past president of the Meyer Medical Group, which was formed in 1920 by his father and two uncles. Dr. Meyer was a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Marcella; four sons, Joseph, John, Gregory and Peter; five daughters, Marcella Horan, Mary Ann Annes, Susan Meinerz, and Barbara and Charlotte; a sister; a brother; and 22 grandchildren. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 10134 S. Longwood Drive.
