White Sox reliever Scott Radinsky, who had been reported delayed in California by earthquake-related business, has in fact been in Sarasota undergoing tests for what friends fear may be a dangerous tumor.

White Sox officials would not comment on Radinsky’s condition or even confirm he is in Florida. But two sources close to the pitcher said Sunday Radinsky is, in fact, in Sarasota awaiting the results of tests on a large lump.

The location of the growth could not be confirmed, but it is believed that Radinsky’s father was a cancer victim.

Radinsky will turn 26 next month.

“The ballplayers themselves know,” a source said.

All rostered players and nonroster invitees have been told to report by Monday.
