Mother McAuley: Mother McAuley (21-8) used a balanced attack and strong defense to eliminate St. Ignatius 65-45 and advance to the Willowbrook supersectional Monday night against York.

“I’d like to credit our man-to-man defense,” coach Diane Darrah said. “We were right in their faces and didn’t give up a shot.”

Jenny Costello, Katie Schumacher and Rhonda Moravek each scored 13 points for McAuley. Mary Murtaugh added 11 and Anne McDonald had 10. Moravek and McDonald each had 11 rebounds.

Katie Guinane led St. Ignatius (23-6) with 14 points.

Riverside-Brookfield: Akisha Franklin scored 18 points and Priscilla Trevino had 17 as York (24-7) eliminated Lyons 56-52.

“At the end, we had the ball in the hands of seniors to hold on,” York coach Steve Cochran said. “I’m real proud of these kids.”

Lyons went on a 14-5 run to come within 40-36 as Kate Walse scored 16 second-half points. The closest Lyons (22-7) came was 46-44.

Schaumburg: No. 4 Hersey weathered a 33-point performance by Ashley Berggren and raced by Barrington 63-48. Hersey (27-1) will meet Downers Grove South Monday in the Fenton Supersectional.

Corrine Vossel led the Huskies with 25 points and nine rebounds. Lora Wolf added 13 points and Abbie Willenborg 12.

Wheaton St. Francis: Natalie Gambit, who finished with 18 points, hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to lift Richmond-Burton (26-1) past Somonauk 47-44. Allyson McNabb and Heidi Regnier added 13 apiece for the winners.

Seneca: Jennifer Kreykes scored 16 points and Nicole Terpstra added 14 as Illiana Christian eliminated Seneca 71-56 to advance to Monday’s Herscher supersectional. Tawny Punke led Seneca (23-3) with 18 points.
