Victor C. Waldschmidt, 84, principal of Grace Evangelical Lutheran School in River Forest from 1947 to 1980, died Tuesday in the Christian Care Center in Hudson, Ill. He taught 8th grade as well as served as principal of the school for 33 years. Mr. Waldschmidt served as president of the Northern Illinois District Teachers Conference. Mr. Waldschmidt was a resident of Oak Park for 46 years. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ellen; three daughters, Beth Haubenstricker, Kathy Miller and Jo Ann Connolly; a son, David; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers; and a sister. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7300 W. Division St., River Forest.
