Norman Nelson, 77, a longtime resident of Troy, N.Y., died Thursday in his Chicago home. Mr. Nelson worked in the State of New York’s Insurance and Research Department for 37 years before moving to Chicago in 1990. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York. He belonged to Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He was also a 50-year member of the Shriners.Survivors include his wife, Helen; two daughters, Barbara Orlando and Ellie Nichols; two sons, John and Raymond; a stepson, Ramon Navarro; a stepdaughter Purita Navarro; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Services were Sunday.
