The District 67 board has approved spending $75,000 to update the mathematics program.

The new curriculum, which will be integrated into each grade level next school year, will involve more “hands-on” problem solving, said Marlene Kamm, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.

Kamm worked for two years with a team of 18 teachers and principals to research and develop the curriculum, choosing materials published by Addison-Wesley.

The district also is working on a new language arts program, Kamm said.
