Robert Schotanus, 100, a longtime Libertyville resident, died Thursday in Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Born in the Netherlands, he came in 1912 to Zion, where he worked on a dairy farm. He later worked on a dairy farm in Chicago. He was also employed as a construction worker, a truck driver for the Illinois Department of Transportation and for what was known in the 1920s as the Lake Forest Motor Express, a maintenance worker at Highland School in Libertyville and a plant guard at International Harvester in Libertyville. He is survived by three sons, Robert, William and Nicholas; a daughter, Agnes Flamank; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday in McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl., Libertyville. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Grace Lutheran Church, 501 Valley Park Drive, Libertyville.
