Lately it seems the religious Right has stepped up its efforts to take over the Republican Party.

As one who has been a member of the Republican Party both locally and nationally, I resent this attempt to dictate its agenda. If the Republican Party is to capitalize on its recent wins, it must be a party open to different points of view.

While I support a balanced budget amendment, line-item veto, lower taxes and privatizing most government services, I also support legislation to protect the environment and am pro-choice and anti-blocking of clinics.

We must be open to debating different points of view and adopting a platform we can all live with or else we will be shutting out many potential members.
