Melvin Edwards, 63, a retired teacher and coach at Highland Park High School, died July 5 at home in Highland Park. He was born in Gary, Ind., and lived in Highland Park for the past 33 years. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; two daughters, Stacey Thompson and Jane; two sons, Dirk and Brett; and three grandchildren. No services are planned.
