– 1921: The Cleveland Indians and the New York Yankees combined for an American League record 16 doubles as the Indians won 17-8. Cleveland had nine doubles and New York seven.

– 1945: The Detroit Tigers and the Philadelphia Athletics battled 24 innings and ended in a 1-1 tie. Les Mueller pitched 19 2/3 innings for the Tigers.

– 1954: The WHITE SOX collected 19 hits in support of Virgil Trucks and pounded New York 15-3 at Yankee Stadium.

– 1955: Bob Kennedy’s two-run double in the seventh broke a 6-6 tie and the WHITE SOX defeated the Yankees 9-6 at Comiskey Park and cut New York’s league lead to one game.
