A recent letter wondered why smokers think they can toss their butts anywhere.
One reason might be that, since most of them have been forced outdoors, they shouldn’t be expected to carry portable ashtrays with them. If the writer truly thinks outdoor cigarette smoke can be referred to as “stench,” a suggestion that I make would be to stay home where it is smoke-free and safe from stench.
All smokers want is to be able to enjoy what they’re doing free from the hysteria of people who would force their ideas upon others. Maybe we should move the smokers back indoors so the people who are offended could stand outside. Personally, I feel that paper litter, empty beverage cans and the like are more an eyesore than a cigarette butt, which is eventually washed away by the elements.
I for one enjoy a cigar with a cocktail after a long day to relieve stress. The way things are going pretty soon that will be cause for arrest.
