The two cities could join Geneva in being supplied with electricity by Wisconsin Electric and Power Co., pending the outcome of negotiations.
St. Charles Mayor Fred Norris asked the City Council’s Public Works Committee this week to consider proposals from WEP and the city’s current supplier, Commonwealth Edison.
“It’s a competitive world we’re living in,” Norris said. “We have the ability to go anywhere in the continental United States to buy power, so we ought to look at where we can get the best deal.”
Any deal worked out with the utility would replace a 10-year agreement with Commonwealth Edison that expires at the end of 1996.
