Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

My evening at the Grant Park Music Festival on July 17 was both ecstatic and disgusting. Hugh Wolff and the orchestra were brilliant, and the guest violinist, Robert McDuffie, was superb.

During intermission, I went to the men’s restroom and found the following conditions:

The floor was covered with water from overflowing toilets. Only one of the four or five toilets had toilet paper. There was no soap, hot water or towels. At least one toilet was stuffed with paper, cups and other debris. The walls, floor and basins were filthy.

I cannot imagine that the city or the Park District would tolerate these conditions or allow citizens and visitors to have this impression of our housekeeping habits.
