General Dynamics Corp. has paid the federal government $3.3 million to settle claims stemming from the company’s construction of two government-subsidized liquefied natural gas tankers, prosecutors said. The government contended the subsidies paid by the Maritime Administration were inflated because of kickbacks paid to Panayiotis Veliotis, a former General Dynamics officer, in two contracts dated July 26, 1977. Veliotis was indicted and remains a fugitive.
