An AP article (Aug. 2) read, “The Citadel may shave Shannon Faulker’s head when she becomes the first woman to join the school’s corps of cadets, a judge said. . ..”
Never mind that a judge refused to moderate Shannon’s cut; time will expose his judgment. Let’s get behind Shannon and show her our support as she crashes through this tank-type, glass ceiling. Let’s help make that judge’s decision a “day of infamy.”
On that day, let’s all go out and make our local barbers rich (and tired). I call on Hollywood, TV and politicians to lead the charge. From “Pretty Woman” to “Forrest Gump,” Chung to Jennings, Novak to Elinor-let’s shave it all off. From Madonna to Limbaugh, Pfeiffer to Arnold, the Clintons (and Socks) to the Doles: let’s give Shannon a scrapbook that’ll make her grandchildren proud.
