Dr. Frederick G. Cox, 79, an ophthalmologist and surgeon for 47 years, died at home Friday in Burr Ridge. He was affiliated with Mercy Medical Center. Dr. Cox, a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, received his medical degree in 1940 from Northwestern University Medical School. He served during World War II in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Lenore; three daughters, Lenore Connors, Maureen McKenna and Marianne Cipolla; four sons, F. David, John Terrence, John Vincent and Brian; 22 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister. Mass for Dr. Cox will be said at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Isaac Joques Catholic Church, 306 W. 4th St., Hinsdale.
