It is ironic that the first sentence of an Aug. 31 article states that the City of Chicago has spent “. . . years of efforts to persuade residents to recycle,” but the city has yet to replace the newspaper recycling dumpster it removed from the corner of LaSalle and Lake Streets in May.
The dumpster, the only one I have ever seen in the Loop, was always filled when I made my weekly trip with my office’s discarded newspapers, so I think at least some of the city’s residents are willing to recycle if given adequate resources to do so.
By the way, I have a three-foot stack of newspapers in the corner of my office just waiting to be recycled. Maybe someone from the city can tell me where the most convenient place is to take them.
