Jim Palos (Op-Ed, Aug. 30) calls United Nations efforts to confront population problems “cultural imperialism” and “downright extortion.”
In other words, the underdeveloped nations are telling those whom they are asking for investment (and downright gifts): “It’s none of your business how many children we have.” But then, confronted with overwhelming numbers of less-than-productive, desperate consumers, we hear, in effect: “Uh, we changed our mind. It is your business after all; in fact, it’s your responsibility.”
