Similar to the logic of your “end the embargo” editorials on Cuba, your Sept. 4 article, “Worn down by our worries, Castro remains a crafty foe,” had a flaw in it. The following sentence appeared: “Lyndon Johnson’s administration launched a series of farfetched assassination schemes against Castro.” President Kennedy was the culprit who tried to kill Castro, not Johnson.

After Kennedy’s own assassination, Johnson worried aloud that perhaps Castro had retaliated by using Lee Harvey Oswald as his agent.
