The Village Board voted unanimously Monday to implement a fee for people who live outside the fire protection district and call on the village for ambulance service.
If someone from outside the district has an accident in the district and requires transportation to a hospital, that person now will be charged $300, said Village President Deborah Vasels.
The fee is necessary to help defray the costs of providing ambulance and paramedical services to the public, Vasels said.
