“With regard to (John Wayne) Gacy, whose execution machine literally cost the taxpayers $25,000 and broke down at the critical moment, maybe the State should have asked for volunteers from the law-enforcement community. Fire a few bullets in the condemned man’s direction and perform the task for far less than what it ultimately cost the taxpayer. There would have been no shortage of police volunteers to carry out the execution of this serial killer who should have been dispatched far quicker than the 14 years it took. . . .”
