It seems to me that Henry Cisneros, Housing and Urban Development secretary, has already paid his dues, quite literally, for having had an affair almost a decade ago. He resigned once over this-as mayor of San Antonio-and we would be crazy to let him go again.

From my Texas days as a graduate student of public policy, I have watched Cisneros’ policy making and I believe he represents the best of public servants-adept at pursuing his own vision, but still able to see the other point of view.

Cisneros is dedicated to good public policy. The fact that he made a mistake years ago and is still paying for it does not compromise his ability. I suggest that we cannot continue to rid our system of any person who has erred in judgment, because perfect people do not exist.
