Monday, Jan. 2 is a federal holiday. The following public services are affected:
Schools: Chicago and most suburban public schools and City Colleges will be closed.
Government offices: All federal, state, county and city buildings will be closed.
Postal service: No mail delivery.
Banks, S&Ls: Most will be closed.
Financial markets: The Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Chicago Board Options Exchange will be closed. The Chicago Board of Trade will be open for night trading.
Parking: Meters must be fed as usual.
Transit: CTA and Metra will follow a Sunday schedule; Pace will run on a Saturday schedule.
City services: City libraries will be closed, and there will be no garbage pickup.
