Residents will pay slightly more for garbage pickup, but will have leaf bags hauled away for no charge under a one-year extension to the solid-waste agreement approved Tuesday by village officials.

The contract extension, effective May 1, increases the monthly charge for trash pickup and recycling services by 28 cents to $10.11, and hikes the price for yard refuse stickers by 10 cents, to $1.60 each.

Currently, Carpentersville residents must apply a sticker to each bag of leaves or to a garbage can holding leaves, according to Village Manager Curt Carver. Under the terms of the extension, no stickers will be needed for leaves.
