Evans Inc., the Chicago-based fur and apparel chain, reported a loss for its fiscal third quarter Tuesday and said it would also show a loss for its fiscal year, which ends in February.
The company said it lost $3.4 million, or 70 cents a share, in its fiscal third quarter ended Nov. 26, widening from a loss of $121,000, or 2 cents a share, in the year-earlier quarter.
For the nine months, the company reported a net loss of $5.9 million, or $1.21 a share, widening from a deficit of $510,000, or 40 cents a share, in the year-earlier period.
The company said third-quarter revenues fell $6.3 million, or 23 percent, to $20.7 million from $27.2 million a year earlier. For the first three quarters, the company said, revenues dropped to $49.5 million from $57.2 million.
