Pat McCabe scored a collegiate high of 29 points, hitting 7 of 10 from three-point range, to lead Wisconsin-Milwaukee to a 90-81 victory Thursday over Loyola in a Midwestern Collegiate Conference game at Alumni Gym.
Milwaukee (2-12, 1-3) snapped its losing streak at five games, while the Ramblers (3-10, 0-4) stretched their losing streak to seven.
After Loyola coach Ken Burmeister was hit with a technical for arguing with officials, Milwaukee went on a 15-1 run to turn a 37-36 lead just before halftime into a comfortable 52-37 bulge early in the second half. Wisconsin-Milwaukee held a 41-36 halftime advantage.
The Ramblers crept back, cutting the deficit to 78-73 when Matt Jung hit a three-pointer with 1:45 left.
Milwaukee stayed in front on free throws, hitting of 12 of 14 at the end.
Bernie Salthe topped the Ramblers with 23 points.
McCabe, a junior guard, made 9 of 15 shots and was 4 of 4 from the foul line.
