A Northbrook resident pleaded innocent Friday to charges that he set fire to his lakefront mansion near Lake Bluff in 1988.
Stanley Berg, 53, entered the plea before Lake County Circuit Judge Raymond McKoski, who set a trial date of Feb. 27.
Berg, the owner of a Wheeling plastics company, is charged with arson in the Nov. 16, 1988, fire that demolished his $3 million residence at 117 Shore Acres Drive in unincorporated Lake Bluff. He is free on $25,000 bond while awaiting trial.
