OK, so he made a few style detours over the years. In the ’60s, he was a flower child. Tried to avoid looking like John Travolta in the ’70s. And in the suited ’80s, he was a tad more buttoned down.
But in the midst of such sartorial experimentation, Stephan Weiss has developed his own way of dressing: a hang-loose, funky kind of classicism that’s high on tweedy separates and low on formal suits.
Of course, it doesn’t hurt when your wife is 7th Avenue angel Donna Karan-and she happens to design all your clothes.
“Men don’t talk amongst themselves about clothes,” says Weiss, who, along with his wife, serves as co-chief executive of the Donna Karan Co. “Men are much more expressive of this side of themselves to women.”
Just ask Donna.
