Prosecution opens: Seven months after the slayings of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, the prosecution formally began laying out its case against O.J. Simpson, portraying him as a man with a violent side who is capable of murder.
TV coverage threatened: Judge Lance Ito threatened to pull the plug on broadcast coverage of the trial after the face of an alternate juror inadvertently was shown on television. He scheduled a hearing for Wednesday morning.
O.J. to bare his knees: While rejecting Simpson’s request to address the jury, Ito ruled the defendant may show them his scarred knees during opening statements. The defense contends he was physically incapable of committing a double murder.
