A former clerk in the Social Security Administration’s North Riverside office was sentenced to 3 months in prison and 3 months of work release and fined $4,500 for selling Social Security cards for resale to illegal immigrants.
In imposing sentence, U.S. District Judge George Lindberg said Marcus King, 23, made some 140 sales netting him $9,000.
King’s cooperation and undercover work enabled authorities to arrest two Nigerian nationals for buying the Social Security cards from King and reselling them to illegal immigrants.
