Baby Boomers, now 31 to 49 years old, are fueling a boom in the market for undergarments designed to shape or conceal middle-age spread.
But there was a marketing question of what to call girdles these days, according to American Demographics magazine.
Try “body shapers.”
Before 1920, girdles were known as corsets, and before that, bustles did the trick.
The effort to hide the aging process also bodes well for sales of cosmetics and the plastic-surgery industry.
