I am often puzzled by political thinking. Currently, the Congress is discussing ways to fight crime and violence by building more prisons, stiffening prison sentences and adding more police.

Congress is also discussing ways to save money by reducing funding to public television and radio. They should compare the quality of programs offered by PBS with the quality of the programs and advertisements offered by commercial television. The commercial offerings are heavily loaded with crime and violence. Easy access to guns, drugs and violent entertainment are responsible for much of the rise of crime and violence in the United States.
