Lawter International Inc. posted a fourth-quarter profit of $8 million, or 18 cents a share, rebounding from a loss of $21.7 million, or 49 cents a share, a year earlier, when the company took $28 million in special charges. The Northbrook-based maker of ink and chemicals said sales rose to $55.2 million from $44.5 million.
For the year, Lawter’s profit rose to $29.4 million, or 66 cents a share, from $5 million, or 11 cents a share, in 1993. Revenues grew to $191 million from $172 million.
