I recently flew in and out of Denver using the new airport. What a nightmare. The closest hotel is 45 minutes away. Cab fares average $50 to $60. It is very disorganized and very inconvenient for business or pleasure travel.

I encourage Mayor Daley, Gov. Edgar and all concerned area citizens to oppose a third airport. What with a shrinking economy and shrinking population, it makes no economic sense to build an airport so far out that business people threaten to take their meetings somewhere more convenient, as I heard expressed numerous times on my short trip to Denver.

We in Illinois and the Chicago area stand to benefit from these disgruntled business travelers. I hope we make the most of it.
