The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency awarded the Chicago Board of Trade’s Recycling Partnership a $200,000 grant to develop a cash exchange for the trading of recyclable commodities. The partnership, consisting of four government and business organizations, is developing a trading system to link buyers and sellers of recovered materials via an electronic bulletin board. The CBOT is providing the electronic market system. Initial trading will consist of plastics and glass. The system is expected to be launched late this year.
