The Village Board has approved an ordinance tripling developer contributions to the library district to $150 per dwelling from the $50 required by the current law.

Developer contributions are set aside to help taxing districts, such as libraries, parks and schools, cope with the demands created by an influx of new residents.

Village administrator John Downs said the fees won’t go up until June 1 to allow enough time to notify developers of the change.

Library officials asked the board in February to hike developer contributions to bring them more in line with the cost of serving new residents.
