On Sunday, Pheasant Run’s new Children’s Theatre offers the first in a series of adventures based on “The Frog Prince” by Hans Christian Andersen. “Rat Dog & Princess Toad Meet the Frog Prince” will be presented at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday through Sept. 3, followed by a brunch where audience members can meet the cast.

The production offers laughs, fun, ’50s tunes and imagination along with a host of crazy characters, including Priscilla, a precocious 8-year-old; Rocky, a cocker spaniel; Elvis, the king; and a fast-talking Frog Prince.

Tickets are $6, or $12 including the brunch. Group discounts are available.

– American Family Theater’s Broadway for Kids presents “Aladdin and the Magic Lamp” at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Dellora A. Norris Cultural Arts Center, 1040 Dunham Rd., St. Charles.

With songs and special effects, this energetic adventure about Aladdin, a rusty old lamp that houses a mischievous genie, and, of course, a princess, is recommended for ages 5 and above.

– Four-time Grammy nominee Gordon Lightfoot will perform his numerous hits, including “Sundown” and “If You Could Read My Mind,” at 8 p.m. Friday at the College of DuPage Arts Center, 22nd Street and Park Boulevard, Glen Ellyn.

The Bensenville Community Theatre will present “Jesus Christ Superstar” at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. Sundays, through May 20 at Blackhawk Middle School, 250 S. Church Rd., Bensenville. The Albright Theatre Company presents “The Shadow Box” at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. May 21, at the Albright Theatre, Government Center Building, 101 North Island Ave., Batavia. Tickets are $8, $6 for students and senior citizens. Call 708-406-8838.

FirstNight Dinner Theater presents Neil Simon’s “Fools” at 6:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 1:30 p.m. Sunday, through May 13 at the Arrowhead Swim & Tennis Club, Butterfield Road west of Naperville Road, Wheaton. Tickets, which include dinner, are $20, $18 for senior citizens. There will be a cash bar. Reservations must be received at least five days before the performance. Call 708-668-6511.

– The Elgin Symphony Orchestra will present its season finale, “Beethoven and Bolero,” at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Hemmens Auditorium.

The concert will feature pianist Petronel Malan in the “Emperor” piano concerto by Beethoven. The program also features Aaron Copland’s “Appalacian Spring Suite,” Beethoven’s “Egmont Overture,” and Maurice Ravel’s “Bolero.” Robert L. Hanson conducts.

– The Naperville Municipal Band presents its Spring Concert at 7:45 p.m. Saturday at Naperville North High School, Ogden Avenue and Mill Street, Naperville.

Under the direction of Ron Keller, the program features a varied repertoire. Guest trumpet soloist will be Byron Autrey.

– The Naperville Chorus, under the direction of Jeordano Martinez, will present Arthur Honegger’s “King David” at 8 p.m. Saturday at St. Margaret Mary Church, 1450 Green Trails Drive (at Naper Boulevard), Naperville.

The production will feature mezzo-soprano Margie Karl, soprano Ina Heup and tenor Timothy Bergman.

– The Wheaton Symphony Chorus has openings for all voice parts for its 1995 summer season, and auditions are not required. The chorus will perform Brodway hits at the June 24 concert, and Benjamin Britten’s “War Requiem” on Aug. 14 to commemorate V-J Day. Singers may elect to sing at one or both concerts.
