In reference to President Clinton’s executive order banning trade with Iran, I think a number of questions might be asked.
Will the Iranian consumer be less or more inclined to hold an anti-U.S. stance now that he is without U.S.-made products? Does the U.S. now appear stronger or impotent in the eyes of the targeted nation, Iran, its government and its people?
Let me offer a hint to the last question: Our foreign competitors will rush in with glee to fill the lost sales America has suffered.
This company and a number of our clients have now lost sales of American products and services. All of us would quickly sacrifice those sales if we believed for an instant that the ban will help stem terrorism. It will not. Never has.
