James “Pate” Philip and his Republican allies in the State Senate have again shown their disregard for the people of Illinois.

Their “killing” of the bill that would have lowered the DUI limit in Illinois to .08 shows that they are at the beck and call of the special interests and that they don’t seem to care about the innocent lives that would be saved by the lowering of this already liberal standard of intoxication. News accounts, both print and electronic, show this to be true.

Most of the other states have already lowered their standard to .08 with very good results in stemming their DUI problem. The State House passed this bill because they realize it is good for Illinois and its people. DUI is a serious problem in Illinois, and Mr. Philip and his buddies are apparently doing their best to keep it that way.
