Please consider that it is the very attitude voiced in your editorial “Playing games with Title IX” (May 15) that perpetuates the myth that females are not interested in and therefore do not participate in sports. Short of a cultural message that “athletics are for men” there is no reason for women (and girls) not to enjoy them at the same level.

Also, please consider that while our male counterparts are considered sports enthusiasts because they will sit for hours in front of the TV “watching,” many women (who are busy juggling homes, careers and lives) do not have the time to watch; we would rather be “doing.”
