If your growing family spends a lot of time at home, the Meadows of Williams Glen in southwest suburban Bolingbrook deserve a look, especially the Magnolia model.
In fact, the Magnolia is so comfortable and homey, you may be tempted to sacrifice your outside life to stay inside all day.
The Meadows of Williams Glen is a United Homes development. The Magnolia is not the top-of-the-line model here, but it’s impressive. Packed with extras, like hardwood floors and a gourmet kitchen, the floor plan is roomy and comfortable.
With a base price of $187,400, the Magnolia is not a starter home.
A double-door entry is the first hint that this house is special, and one step inside proves this to be true.
The foyer is a good size with a large closet to your right as you enter. There’s room enough for a table for your mail or bags as you hang your coat.
In addition to its spaciousness, the foyer doesn’t look directly into any room. The stairs are straight ahead, but they quickly turn and disappear behind a wall. There is a partial view of the large living room, immediately to the left of the foyer.
In the living room, a bay window faces front, adding to the room’s majestic feel. The recessed lighting in this room is extra; $300 for a pair of lights.
The dining room is just past the foyer to the right, facing the front of the house. The room has a window looking out to the front.
Hardwood floors in the foyer, dining room and kitchen add style, and they should, considering that the floors are a $9,000 option.
You can enter the kitchen from the dining room and from a hallway straight off the foyer. The room is beautiful and makes you want to start cooking a large meal.
A countertop separates the kitchen from a breakfast area, which is larger than many dining rooms. There are plenty of cabinets, and a nice surprise when you open the closet door off the breakfast area-a walk-in pantry. A window over the sink faces the back yard.
Recessed lighting over the sink is $300 extra.
There are sliding glass doors off the breakfast area, though there is no patio; none is included, even as an option. The builder suggests waiting a year before building one to give the house time to settle.
The double-bowl cast-iron Kohler sink is standard, but most everything else in this gourmet kitchen is extra. The whole package is $6,000, and here’s what you get: double-hung ovens, a separate gas range, microwave hang, 42-inch cabinets (with extra-large drawers for holding pots), halogen lighting under the cabinets to illuminate the countertop, and a small built-in desk.
It’s a lot of money, but looks to be worth every penny.
Off the kitchen is a laundry room with optional laundry tub for $220. There is a good-size closet here, as well as entry to the standard two car garage.
Also off the kitchen, but in the other direction, is the family room. You walk down a short hallway to get there, and along the way is a half bath, which also has hardwood floors (it’s part of the package).
The family room keeps with the impressive theme. Three wood-frame, double-hung windows let in plenty of light. There is an optional brick fireplace with full masonry inside and out for $7,500.
You get to the basement from the family room. It’s almost a full basement with a crawl space.
The Magnolia has four bedrooms, all upstairs. The three secondary bedrooms are clustered at the top of the stairs, two of them facing the front.
The largest of the three faces the back. This larger room has two recessed lights over the bed. They are an option for $300.
All of the bedrooms have closets and all are a fairly nice size.
The hallway bathroom has double sinks and wood cabinetry, an upgrade that costs $250. The floor is ceramic tile (standard) and the tub comes with tile surround.
A large mirror over the sink is standard, as is a small medicine cabinet.
As you head down the hallway to the master bedroom you pass is a linen closet.
The master bathroom is huge; I’ve seen smaller bedrooms. The closet is in the bathroom. There are two doors, but one gigantic closet, separated in the model by some metal shelving.
There is a separate tub and shower. The shower has ceramic tile surround, plus a small shower bench. The toilet is enclosed in a separate closet.
The Meadows of Williams Glen offers 84 single-family homes in five designs ranging from 1,750 feet to 2,819 square feet and priced from $141,900 to $188,900. So far, about 35 have been sold.
The development is located on the north side of Boughton Road, one mile east of Naperville Road in Bolingbrook. Sales hours are Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The phone number is 708-759-5969.
