Ida Stein, 77, chief executive officer of Stein & Associates, a company that imports and manufactures contract and residential furniture, died Monday in Weiss Memorial Hospital. She began her career as a manufacturer and sales agent and helped establish an important role for women in a previously male-dominated industry. Mrs. Stein was a trade consultant to several foreign governments and was a popular speaker at many foreign furniture exhibitions. Her firm is noted for introducing unique designs to architects and designers of restaurants, hotels, and other public buildings. Survivors include her daughter, Judyth Jacobs; and two grandsons. Plans for memorial services in Chicago and Italy are pending.
